Holy moly, how have I not read this before?!? Most Halloween poems I've seen are relatively brief, atmospheric glimpses (lovely as they may be)––but this is damn near epic in its reach and ambition. I don't love every line, but I do love the passion and commitment of it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I've been beating the band for this masterpiece since first reading it. Aiken's verse and prose fiction is full of uncanny and macabre material of great sublimity.
